Indices and Benchmark Management
Cadis EDM Suite enables fund managers to view their portfolios against the appropriate benchmarks, indices and/or models in an environment where the data is accurate, timely and cost effective.
Traditionally fund managers have used a combination of spreadsheets and in-house applications (that have not been supported by IT) to achieve this where possible. With the recent trend toward the acquisition of Order Management Systems (OMS) by most investment houses, IT departments are struggling to grapple with the complexities of loading this disparate and complex data.
Typically solutions contain extensive custom code and implementations that are time consuming and costly with a high risk of non-delivery.
Cadis Software has extensive experience in loading and managing the data required in a cost effective manner ensuring that the ongoing cost of ownership remains low.
The solution is a combination of the existing components that solves one of the fundamental issues with managing the data in this area, front end performance of the OMS, risk management or attribution system. Some of the functionality is outlined below:
- Blended benchmark/model builder allows users to select specific benchmarks/models or multiple benchmarks/models and combine and feed them into the OMS
- Rolled up benchmark/model constituents enable benchmarks that contain up to 7000 securities to be displayed in the OMS in a format that is easy for fund managers to view
- The ability to augment current feeds to the OMS without having to “rip out” the existing architecture
- Fast, efficient intra-day loading of data ensures trading systems remain operational and the loading of supplementary benchmark data does not hinder the trading process
- Interface to OMS and many sources (Lehmans, Bloomberg, Factset, etc.) making the addition of data to the OMS as easy as “drag and drop”
- The dynamic creation of rolled up securities at any level enables users to see the individual constituents that they hold and the constituents that interest the users (e.g. >2% market capitalisation constituents) and see the rest of the constituents as a rolled up security.
This functionality in combination with standard interfaces to many of the leading OMS and data vendors allows financial services institutions to provide their fund managers and traders with the best tools as well as the best data within timeframes and budgets that suit the business needs.
